Pan-American Network for Problem-Based Learning

Mission Statement

PAN-PBL promotes problem-based learning in K-12, undergraduate, graduate, and professional education throughout the Americas by providing PBL training and resource materials in Spanish and English, consulting with institutions that wish to implement PBL, and assisting in the organization of an international conference every two years. For more information on PAN-PBL, its services, and its publications, please see the main site.

Origins

PAN-PBL was conceived by members of the University of Delaware and Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú during its ALO/USAID project to promote the use of PBL in math and science education in Perú. The Network was created in Lima, Perú on December 9, 2004 at the first meeting of the organizing committee for PBL2006 and witnessed by representatives of university hosts of previous international PBL conferences in the Americas (document).

Next International Conference

The PBL2016 conference will be held in São Paulo, Brazil, from September 8-10, 2016. The topic will be "Innovation in Teaching and Learning." Please see the event site for more information.
