Learn To Skate Winter I & II Series

Class Level and Progression Information

Age Class
Ages 5 and younger Snowplow Sam 1-4 Learn to dip and march in place, marching while moving, beginning two foot glide, backward wiggles, forward and backward swizzles and snowplow stop.
Ages 6 and older Basic 1-6 and Pre FS
Basic 1 Sit on ice and stand up, march forward across the ice, forward two-foot glide, dip, forward swizzles, backward wiggles, beginning snowplow stop, and two-foot hop in place.
Basic 2 Scooter pushes, forward one-foot glides, backward two-foot glide, rocking horse, backward swizzles, two-foot turn from forward to backward in place, moving snowplow stop, curves
Basic 3 Beginning forward stroking, forward half swizzle pumps on a circle, moving forward to backward two-foot turn, beginning backward one-foot glides, backward snowplow stop, forward slalom.
Basic 4 Forward outside and inside edges on a circle, forward crossovers, backward half swizzle pumps on a circle, backward one foot glides, beginning two foot spin, lunges.
Basic 5 Backward outside and inside edges on a circle, backward crossovers, forward outside three-turns, advanced two-foot spin, hockey stop, side toe hop.
Basic 6 Forward inside three-turns, moving backward to forward two-foot turns on a circle, backward stroking, beginning one-foot spin, T-stop, bunny hop, forward arabesque/spiral, shot the duck
Pre FS Forward inside open mohawk, backward crossovers to a backward outside edge, backward outside edge to a forward outside edge, mohawk step sequence, one foot upright spin, mazurka, waltz jump, backward inside pivots.

Each Winter Series are 6 weeks, first 30 minutes is group lesson followed by 30 minutes of practice.

Advanced Registration Fee:

Both Winter I & Winter 2: November 18-December 18, 2016 : $180 each skater, $160 each additional family member.

Winter I November 18-December 18, 2016 : $90 each skater, $80 each additional family member.

Winter II January 23-February 5, 2017 : $90 each skater, $80 each additional family member.

Standard Registration Fee:

Payment received on line or at the Fred Rust Ice Arena informational window on or after the dates listed below.

Winter I: December 19, 2016- January 2, 2017, $110 each skater, $100 each additional family member

Winter II: February 6-20, 2017, $110 each skater, $100 each additional family member

Week of Class Registration Fee:

Payment received on line or at the Fred Rust Ice Arena informational window on or after the dates listed below.

Winter I: January 3, 2017, $125 each skater, $115 each additional family member

Winter II: February 21, 2017, $125 each skater, $115 each additional family member

 

Skate Rental

Skate rental is available for an additional cost of $3 per rental. For those who are using their own skates, make sure they are sharpened before the first class. A skate rental card, which is good for 10 skate rentals, can be purchased for $30.


Parent Skate & Sibling Skate

The parent skate option is for the parent or legal guardian of those enrolled in class. This allows a parent and/or sibling to skate on the half-hour practice following classes. Parent skate is highly recommended for young skaters and is a lot of fun!
$30 per person, Winter Series.

There are three ways to register for the Learn To Skate program.

1. Online registration using our secure.
    Register up to three skaters per form. Click Here

2. Call (302) 831-2868 to have a registration form mailed to you.

3. Visit the Fred Rust Ice Arena Information Window and register in person.
    Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
