This summer, UD faculty, staff, students, family members and friends are invited to donate blood in support of the Blood Bank of Delmarva’s 11th annual Summer Blood Challenge.
Every day across Delmarva, more than 350 blood donors are needed to maintain the local blood supply. By participating in the Summer Blood Challenge, The University of Delaware is helping the Blood Bank avoid serious blood shortages that have hit other areas of the country. Typically fewer donors are available in the summer because of vacations and other activities.
By participating before September 14, you’ll earn points for UD in the Challenge, as well have a chance to win exciting prizes:
The Blood Bank has four donor centers (Wilmington, Newark, and Dover, DE and Salisbury, MD) and 30 established blood drive locations. Visit http://www.delmarvablood.org/ or call 1 888 8-BLOOD-8 for an appointment. For more information on how to get involved in the Summer Blood Challenge, e-mail your questions or call 831-8388.
