Graduate Studies Senate Committee Minutes

Members present: Charles Swanik, Harsh Bais (Excused), Daniel Sullivan, Bill Ullman, Susan Brynteson (Excused), Mary Martin,  James Richards, Melinda Duncan, Jesus Botello, Michael Santare, Jane Wessel (Graduate Student), Chris Castillo, Brad Glass (excused), Shannon Lennon-Edwards (Excused) .

New Business

  1. The M.S. in Accounting curriculum revisions were approved by the Committee and the Senate in 13-14.  The program brought forward the addition of identifying three concentrations in the program:  Management Information Systems, Financial Management, and Controllership.  The supported the development of these concentrations but there were some conflicting information in the listing of the required core courses and the concentrations.  The Committee requested the proposal to updated appropriately and agreed to entertain an email vote on the proposal upon the receipt of the edited version of the program policy document. 
  2. Deputy Provost Nancy Brickhouse and Debra Hess-Norris visited the Committee to gather thoughts, ideas, and issues as a focus group for the strategic planning initiative.

 

NOTE:  By email vote, the concentrations in the MS in Accounting were voted upon by email and unanimously approved.
