New Business

  1. Proposal for new Ph.D. program in Financial Services Analytics.  Dean Bruce Weber and Professor Bintong Chen provided the background and rationale for the development of the interdisciplinary program to be offered by the Lerner College of Business and Economics and the College of Engineering.  A full discussion was given outlining the curriculum, the governance, and the financial support for the program.  The Committee voted unanimously approving the establishment of the program adding the recommendation that a listing of the faculty with their credentials be attached to the proposal.
  2. Proposal for a new M.S. degree in Anatomy and Clinical Health Science. Stuart Binder–Macleod and Ellen Hakim provided the rationale for the development of the M.S. as an option for students enrolled in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program.  Providing this option would provide the distinction of academic superiority for students verifying   recognized advanced knowledge and understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and pathology.   This degree is an option only for students officially enrolled in the DPT program.  The Committee voted unanimously in favor of establishing the degree.

NOTE:  By email vote, the tabled item from November 8, 2013 agenda for the proposal for the new Master’s of Engineering in Particle Technology was unanimously approved based upon the inclusion of a statement of the college support (section II.B.4), updated  description of the supervised project (section III.C), and  a table of contents to help navigate the document.

Respectfully submitted:
Mary Martin, Assistant Provost for Graduate and Professional Education
