The University of Delaware has received a $10 million commitment from alumnus and Delaware entrepreneur Bob Gore. The gift will benefit the University’s 194,000-square-foot Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Laboratory (ISE Lab), which opened with the beginning of the fall semester.

Students phone UD community, appeal for donations

More than 40 students at UD participate in the UD Student Phone Program, appealing for donations to support University programs, including scholarships, campus expansion initiatives, athletics, student organizations and all seven colleges.

Theatre Reception

Top Drama

Supporters of the dramatic arts gathered for a reception, hosted by UD President Patrick Harker, to celebrate the many accomplishments of UD’s Department of Theatre, as well as to garner continued and increasing support for this vital community resource.


Unidel Challenge

UD received a $5 million commitment from the Unidel Foundation Inc. to support the construction of the Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Laboratory (ISE Lab). To help motivate others to invest in the ISE Lab project, the University has decided to use this gift to establish a challenge to other prospective donors.


Equine Studies Gift

Stuart M. and Suzanne B. Grant of Greenville, Del., recently donated $1 million to develop and support an Equine Studies Program. With this generous gift, the University will create an equine studies minor in the Department of Animal and Food Sciences that will be available to UD students.


2012 President's Report on Philanthropy

The University of Delaware invites the public to view the 2012 President’s Report on Philanthropy, available online now. The report is UD’s annual honor roll of supporters and includes all donors to the University in Fiscal Year 2012 (July 1, 2011-June 30, 2012).


Hunt for bin Laden

Mark Bowden – author of The Finish: The Killing of Osama bin Laden and supplemental faculty in the University of Delaware’s Department of English - spoke about his book during the inaugural President’s Authors Series. 


The Rosenberg Challenge

Sponsored by UD alumni Michael and Joanne Rosenberg, both members of the Class of 1988, the challenge provides a one-to-one match for all gifts up to $1,000 made by undergraduate alumni from the Classes of 2003-12.


Grateful Scholars

Gathering for the annual Gratitude Gala, sponsored by the Office of Development, students came together to thank the individuals, corporations and organizations whose dedication to undergraduate scholarships has made a difference in the lives of UD students.


UDAA President Funds Scholarship

Darelle has long supported her mantra of philanthropy with positive actions, but recently, she took her commitment to a whole new level. With her husband, John Riabov ’75, Darelle made a gift to the University of Delaware to create the Darelle Lake Riabov and John Riabov Volleyball Scholarship.


Art Appreciation

Julie McGee, curator of African American art, led members of the University’s Carillon Circle on an insightful tour of Jackson Jarvis’ stirring artwork, which was inspired by historical photos the artist uncovered 40 years ago in a thrift store photo album.


New Program Created

UD has received a $3 million commitment from alumnus Charles W. Horn, a 1975 alumnus, and his wife, Patricia A. Horn. The gift will be used to enhance and expand entrepreneurial studies at UD through the creation of the Horn Program in Entrepreneurship.


Great Seats

In recognition of a successful fiscal year 2012 fundraising campaign, UD President Patrick Harker announced in July that he would make tickets in his box for the Aug. 30 game available to faculty and staff members who had donated to the University in 2012.


University announces $5 million commitment from DuPont

UD has received a $5 million gift from DuPont to support the construction of the 197,000 square foot Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Laboratory on the University’s Newark campus. 

Record-Setting Support

President Patrick T. Harker has announced that donors contributed $61,173,804 to the University in fiscal year 2012, exceeding by more than $10 million the annual contribution goal set forth by the University's Board of Trustees.
