Subject: Summer & Fall 2012 Educational Technology Course Scheduling Advice

Greetings to all ed tech graduate students at the University of Delaware!

I am writing to provide you with course scheduling advice for the upcoming
Summer session and Fall semester of 2012. As always, you should check with
your advisor each semester to confirm that your course selection is in
line with your particular program. This course advisory contains sections
for M.Ed. Students and Ed.D. Students, respectively.

                  ===Courses for M.Ed. Students===

All M.Ed. students are required to take one of the following core
courses:

    EDUC 600 Teacher as Researcher
    EDUC 607 Educational Research Procedures

EDUC 607 is being taught in the Fall of 2012.

From the ed tech specialty, the following courses are being offered
in the Fall of 2012:

EDUC 611 Introduction to Educational Technology
    EDUC 639 Social Networking
    EDUC 656 eLearning
    EDUC 685 Multimedia Literacy

In the Summer of 2012, the following ed tech electives are
being offered:

    EDUC 639-010 iPad Application Development
    EDUC 639-194 Examining Multimodality
EDUC 652-910 Intro to Technology in Special Education and Rehabilitation

                ===Courses for Ed.D. Students===

All Ed.D. students are required to take EDUC 824 (Effective Communication
for Educational Leaders), EDUC 863 (Program Evaluation), and EDUC 891
(Organizational Problem Analysis/Planning). Of these, EDUC 891 is being
offered in the Summer of 2012. In the Fall, EDUC 824 and EDUC 863 are
being taught. Note: EDUC 824 should be taken as early in your coursework
as possible. EDUC 891, on the other hand, is best taken toward the end
of your coursework.

Similarly, all Ed.D. students are required to take EDUC 860 (Curriculum
Theory), EDUC 846 (Data Analysis), EDUC 850 (Qualitative Research
in Educational Settings), and EDUC 818 (Foundations of Educational Technology).
Of these, EDUC 818 is being offered in the Summer of 2012.
In the Fall, EDUC 850 is being taught.

Last, but certainly not least, all Ed.D. students are required to take 18
credits of ed tech specialty courses. The following courses are being
offered in Fall 2012:

EDUC 611 Introduction to Educational Technology
    EDUC 639 Social Networking
    EDUC 656 eLearning
    EDUC 685 Multimedia Literacy

In the meantime, I hope you will all pass your final exams and projects with
flying colors and then enjoy a pleasant summer.

All the best,
Fred
