Greetings to all ed tech graduate students at the University of Delaware! I am writing to provide you with course scheduling advice for the upcoming Summer session and Fall semester of 2008. As always, you should check with your advisor each semester to confirm that your course selection is in line with your particular program. This course advisory contains sections for M.Ed. Students, M.I. Students, and Ed.D. Students, respectively. ===Courses for M.Ed. Students=== All M.Ed. students are required to take one of the following courses: EDUC 600 Teacher as Researcher EDUC 607 Educational Research Procedures EDUC 607 is being taught in the Summer of 2008. Both EDUC 600 and 607 are being offered in Fall 2008. All M.Ed. students are required to take the following curriculum course, which is being offered during the Summer and Fall of 2008: EDUC 640 Introduction to Curriculum From the ed tech specialty, the following two required courses are being offered in the Fall of 2008: EDUC 639 Learning Technologies Across the Curriculum EDUC 685 Multimedia Literacy There is also a wide range of ed tech electives that are being offered as part of the Summer Institute. If you need to take another ed tech elective in the Fall of 2008, you may be interested in the following option. M.Ed. and M.I. students may elect one of the EDUC 885 courses to fulfill a 600-level technology elective. In the Fall of 2008, the following courses are being offered: EDUC 885-050 Advanced Topics in Sakai Multimedia Design EDUC 885-051 Technology and Teacher Learning EDUC 885-194 Advanced Topics in Sakai Web Design ===Courses for M.I. Students=== All M.I. Students must take either EDUC 600 (Teacher as Researcher) or EDUC 629 (Psychology of Teaching). EDUC 629 is being offered in the Summer of 2008. EDUC 600 is being offered in Fall 2008. M.I. students must take either EDUC 680 (Educational Diagnosis) or EDUC 605 (Measurement Applications in Education). M.I. students must take either EDUC 658 (Discipline and Classroom Management) or EDUC 681 (Techniques for Behavior Change). Both of these courses are being offered in the Summer of 2008. EDUC 681 is also being offered in the Fall of 2008. M.I. students must take either EDUC 627 (Models of Instruction) or EDUC 640 (Introduction to Curriculum). EDUC 640 is being offered in the Summer and Fall of 2008. Students=== All Ed.D. students are required to take EDUC 824 (Effective Communication for Educational Leaders), EDUC 863 (Program Evaluation), and EDUC 891 (Organizational Problem Analysis/Planning). Of these, EDUC 891 is being offered in the Summer of 2008. In the Fall, EDUC 824 and EDUC 863 are being taught. Note: EDUC 824 should be taken as early in your coursework as possible. EDUC 891, on the other hand, is best taken toward the end of your coursework. Similarly, all Ed.D. students are required to take EDUC 860 (Curriculum Theory), EDUC 665 (Elementary Statistics), EDUC 850 (Qualitative Research in Educational Settings), and EDUC 818 (Foundations of Educational Technology). Of these, EDUC 665 and EDUC 818 are being offered in the Summer of 2008. In the Fall, EDUC 665 and EDUC 850 are being taught. Last, but certainly not least, all Ed.D. students are required to take 18 credits of ed tech specialty courses.
