Subject: Ed Tech Graduate Student Spring 2001 Course Advisory

Greetings to all ed tech graduate students at the University of Delaware!
I'm writing to provide you with course scheduling advice for the upcoming
Spring semester of 2001. As always, you should check with your advisor
each semester to confirm that your course selection is in line with your
particular program. This course advisory contains sections for M.Ed.
Students, M.I. Students, and Ed.D. Students, respectively.

                   ===Courses for M.Ed. Students===

All M.Ed. students are required to take 3-6 credits of the following
research courses; during Spring 2001, all three are being offered:

    EDUC 600 Teacher as Researcher
    EDUC 607 Educational Research Procedures
    EDUC 660 Applied Educational Measurement

All M.Ed. students must take the following curriculum theory course, which
is being offered during Spring 2001:

    EDUC 640 Introduction to Curriculum

>From the ed tech specialty, all M.Ed. students must take the following two
courses that are being offered in the Spring of 2001:

    EDUC 685 Multimedia Literacy
EDUC 632 Using the Internet for Curriculum Applications

If you are looking to take an ed tech elective in the spring of 2001, you
may be interested in the following option. With the permission of the
advisor, M.Ed. students may elect one of the EDUC 885 courses to fulfill a
600-level technology requirement, but such a course cannot be counted
again in a subsequent doctoral program. In the spring of 2001, the
following course is being offered:

EDUC 885 Advanced Web Design & Development

As a special bonus, master's students should also be aware that during the
winter session, EDUC 639 is being taught on the topic of developing
interactive educational materials. This course counts as part of the ed
tech specialization electives for the master's degree.

                   ===M.I. Students===

M.I. students must take either EDUC 600 (Teacher as Researcher) or EDUC
629 (Psychology of Teaching). Of these two courses, EDUC 600 is being
offered in the Spring of 2001.

M.I. students must take either EDUC 658 (Discipline and Classroom
Management) or EDUC 681 (Techniques for Behavior Change). In the
Spring of 2001, EDUC 658 is being offered.

M.I. students must take either EDUC 627 (Models of Instruction) or
EDUC 640 (Introduction to Curriculum). During the Spring of 2001,
both of these courses are being offered.

All M.I. students must take the following technology courses that are
being offered in the Spring of 2001:

As explained at http://www.udel.edu/fth/edd/completing.html, doctoral
students who have completed all of their coursework must enroll in either
EDUC 964, Pre-Candidacy Study or EDUC 969, Thesis. You enroll in EDUC 964
