Attendance Policy
Attendance is very
important in a language course because skills are developed through daily
use. You are expected to attend every class. Nevertheless,
your first four absences for any reason will not be held
against you.
After your
first four absences for any reason, your final average will be lowered
by 1% for each additional absence. This excludes absences that are due
to religious holidays, illnesses, accidents or exceptional circumstances
if you provide documentation (such as a note from your doctor). You will
have one week from the day you were absent to submit that documentation.
If you are
absent on any day when a test, quiz, composition, or other graded
activity is scheduled or due, you must provide documentation (such as a
note from your doctor) in order to make up the work. You will have one
week from the day you were absent to submit that documentation.
Penalties
for late arrivals/early departures are at the discretion of individual
instructors, who will announce their policy during the first week of classes.
IMPORTANT REMINDER:
If you have any questions about the attendance policy, it is your responsibility
to ask for clarification.
Attendance
Policy Example:
A student
who has the following absences will lose two (2) points from his/her
final average, because there are two (2) unexcused absences after
the first four absences.
