Top Financial Services Questions

I have ISIR Verification listed on my To-Do list. What is that?

ISIR Verification indicates that you are required to complete the Verification process. If this item is showing and you have provided all required documents, you are not required to do anything else at this time. (You can log on to My SFS Docs to confirm submission of your documents). The ISIR Verification item simply means SFS is working to review your documentation. Depending on the time of the year, this could take several weeks.

My account is showing a credit balance. When and how do I request a refund?

For students with a credit balance on the student account (credit balances show in parentheses), refunds can be processed starting on or about the first day of classes. Funds showing as "pending" aid can not be refunded. To request a refund, the student must log into UDSIS and select "Request a Refund" under the "Finances" heading. The link is a web form the student must complete. Simply follow the instructions. Refunds are processed either through direct deposit (quickest method) or by check. If you have a question regarding your refund request, and the 10-14 day processing period has passed, please submit your ReqID.

How do I get Financial Aid for Study Abroad?

Students studying through the University of Delaware travel studies programs are automatically considered for scholarships through the Institute of Global Studies. If the study program is during the winter, loans though the federal government or alternative lenders may be available. If the program is during the primary semesters--fall and spring--current financial aid would apply. Students studying through other institutions should consider a Consortium Agreement.

Where did my pending financial aid go?

There are several possible answers to this question. If...

  1. you recently went through the verification process, a corrected FAFSA may require changes to your financial aid package. This takes about three days.
  2. pending financial aid has not disbursed into your student account and we are beyond the semester's third payment date, we remove the aid from pending status so it is no longer reflected on the bill. Check the student's "View Financial Aid" in UDSIS or "Financial Aid Award Notice" tab in My Finances to ensure it is still on the student's financial aid package. Also, review the to-do list to be certain we have not requested information from you.
  3. a student receives additional financial aid in any form, and the student's educational costs are fully covered, the school is required to reduce/limit the amount of aid.
  4. loans and/or work study funding has been reduced or cancelled by the student/family, an increased balance due may take place.
I have funding from the state that has not yet paid my bill. Where is it?

We anticipate December payment for fall semester and April payment for spring for many state of Delaware funds. This includes Scholarship Incentive Program (ScIP) funds.
