Tutoring Center thrives The ELI Tutoring Center has been very busy this year. Students find one-on-one tutoring very helpful, and some even express a desire for more than the prescribed two hours a week. In addition to individual tutoring, the Tutoring Center, under the direction of coordinator Linda Bigler, offered various group tutoring "clusters," or small group classes averaging six students, each focusing on a particular area of ESL: grammar, pronunciation, short-story study, creative arts and preMBA. Students from the high intermediate level may choose one of these in addition to their one other hour of instruction. Bigler also reported that corporate tutoring continued in 1999, with some companies, such as Astra Zeneca, receiving instruction on-site, while others, such as DuPont, Gore and Konica, continued studying at the ELI Annex.
