Personnel notes

DONNA LUMPKIN, ELI's secretary, was promoted to a new position within the College of Business and Economics. We will miss her smile and infectious humor.
DOROTHY (DOLLY) DESIDERIO was hired on September 27 to replace Donna. Dolly has worked with international skaters for many years at her previous position with the University Ice Arena. She has had no difficulty breaking the ice with her new colleagues and students at the Institute.
JANET LOUISE has taken a leave of absence to teach at Kobe Shoin Women's University. We eagerly await her return in 18 months.
MICHAEL JEPSEN joined the ELI ranks to provide computer hardware and administrative support. Thanks to Michael, ELI is Y2K compliant!

ELI said good-bye to a number of wonderful tutors this year, including BONNIE RAIMY, who accepted a full-time public school position; ERIC RAIMY, who is now an assistant professor at Swarthmore College; DENNIS CANNON, who is planning to teach ESL in San Francisco, and SUZANNE STADNICKI, who is now a public school teacher.

A number of ELI classroom instructors have pursued new career opportunities. MARGARET CASSLING, MELODY HOLM TERASAKI and LISA STEVENS have accepted positions as full time ESL teachers in the Delaware public school system. MARY MCCLOSKEY is now the full time ESL teacher for the Cecil School District in Maryland. PATIENCE PHILLIPS has accepted a faculty position at ELI's sister institution, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. Finally, MICHELLE KLINE has left the ESL profession to become a business entrepreneur. We wish our colleagues every success and thank them for their years of outstanding service to ELI.

New faces to the ELI classrooms include KARYN HORN, WALT BABICH, PATRICK WHITE, KAREN POWELL, KATE HAYNE and KEN HYDE. We feel fortunate to have attracted such high caliber professionals as faculty and tutors.
