Tutoring center news

Now that it is winter with the snow falling outside, it's time to reflect upon the past year at the Tutoring Center. As Dickens aptly put it, "It was the best of times; it was the worst of times." We are happy to welcome several new tutors to the ELI family: Dennis Cannon, Eric Collum, David Levitt, Raelynn Reed, Sharon Scott, Suzanne Stadnicki, Brett Tomashek and Julie Witsken. Unfortunately, the Tutoring Center has also said goodbye to some very dear friends this past year. Roberta George, Nancy Goss, Renee Hayes, and Lauren Hill have all gone on to pursue their career objectives outside the Institute. David Quayle also is no longer tutoring, but he has only moved three floors down. David is now the orientation coordinator.

Although last summer was one of the busiest sessions that ELI has ever experienced, with over four hundred students enrolled in various programs, the loyal, hard-working tutors were able to keep up with their demanding schedules without missing a beat. Over the past several years, the Tutoring Center has evolved into a professional corps of dedicated tutors whose goal is to assist the students in the difficult, sometimes painful process of learning English as a Second Language. The tutors are to be congratulated for their selflessness and commitment.
