PreMBA program The PreMBA program continued its evolution during the year 2000. Students now can select the PreMBA track upon entering Level IV, take PreMBA Essentials--the core GMAT prep class--in Level V and complete the capstone Business Communications and Business Concepts courses in Level VI. The increased level of sophistication of the Level VI courses, explained instructor James Slater, has made them suitable to a wide range of students, from recent university graduates to business professionals with over five years experience and very high levels of English, whose experience makes a welcome contribution to the class. PreMBA participants continue to experience success in entering accredited MBA programs of their choice. In addition to the high-ranking programs that have received PreMBA graduates in the past, such as Case Western Reserve, Dartmouth, University of Delaware, University of Denver, George Washington, Harvard, University of Illinois, LaSalle, New York and Widener, this year's graduates went on to California Polytechnic State, Columbia, Drexel, Georgetown, Hofstra, St. John's and St. Joseph's universities. In response to participant interest in e-commerce, this year PreMBA students visited VerticalNet, a successful internet company with an international clientele headquartered in the Philadelphia area, to better understand internet business models. Participants saw firsthand the difference between reading about internet companies and talking directly to executives about how they actually work. "VerticalNet's gracious accommodation of the group," said Slater, "provided an excellent laboratory for bridging the gap between the old and new economy."
