Baris Ozgurel (Turkey, '00) is studying marketing and management at Delaware Technical and Community College and is engaged to Pilar Eliana (Colombia, '00). Bjorn Tibell (Sweden, '93, '94) graduated in economics from Uppsala University and works for a small consulting firm in Stockholm. Clara Inez Quintin (Colombia, '98) is working as junior editor for Editorial Norma, S.A. in Bogota. Dae Hwan (Dan) Kim (Korea, '98) received his master's degree in public policy from the University of Pittsburgh in 2000 and is volunteering at the United Nations for a non-governmental agency. Dae Seog Choi (Korea, '97) is now working in Seoul for Lucent Technologies. Daishu Aimono (Japan, '99) is working for Noltex L.L.C., a joint venture of Mitsubishi Chemical, located in Houston, Texas.
Daniela Efeiche (Brazil, '94) has been practicing her English in Indonesia, Thailand, China, Lebanon and South Africa, while accompanying her husband on business travel. Dennis Salcedo (Venezuela, '99) has begun studying for an MBA at Goldey Beacom College. Diego Isaza (Colombia, '95) and wife Maia Sponseller, a former ELI teacher, have moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he works as a product manager for Proctor & Gamble. Eduardo J. Benitez (Venezuela, '95) is working as a regulatory attorney for a major telecommunications company in Virginia. He completed a master's degree at the American University of Washington College of Law in 1997. Eri Yokoyama (Japan, '97) is studying in a graduate program in environmental studies in Missouri. Faisal Ibrahim Gulam (Saudi Arabia, '92) is a diplomat in the Saudi Arabian Embassy in London.
Fernando Oliveira (Brazil, '99) graduated in Public Administration from Universidade Estadual Paulista in December. A tax service consultant for Arthur Andersen in Campinas, near Sao Paulo, he has started scuba diving and recently enjoyed a visit from Jorge Ramollino (Argentina, '99). Gustavo Rodriguez (Venezuela, '99) and wife Emily Hogan (former ELI orientation assistant) have bought a house outside Tampa, FL, where the two are working. Il-sik Jeon (Korea, '00) gave a presentation at his university on the cultural changes in American society during the 1960s, using information from the 1960s class at ELI. Isabella Nazionale (Italy, '00) is working in Torino, Italy, organizing international medical conferences. She also published a chapter in a university textbook based on her field work with the Samburu people of the Lake Turkana region of Africa. Jae Ho Choi (Korea, '93) and Soon Ah Kim (Korea, '95) are living in Jersey City, NJ. Jae Ho received a master's in music and Soon Ah has a master's in fine arts from UD. Both are now studying at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. Jimmy Memnon (Haiti, '99) is majoring in Computer Information Systems at UMass, Boston. Jin-Hee (Sophia) Kim (Korea, '94) is working for Itochu, a company which exports and imports chemical products in Seoul. Jose David (Paisa) Montoya Arias (Colombia, '98) is a maintenance planning manager for Aires S.A. in Bogota. Julio Uribe (Colombia, '99) is project manager for Intelbit Computacion, a software company for which he designs web pages and does programming on the Web. Liliana Sierra (Colombia, '98) is currently studying German in Braunschweig, Germany, where she is staying with Karsten Brennecke (Germany, '98). Liliana hopes to pursue a masters degree there in chemistry or environmental studies. Lorena Gayosso Gimenez (Mexico, '98) is expecting her first child in January 2001. She works for the DuPont Company in Mexico City. Luis Pernia (Venezuela, '99) and wife Mary welcomed a baby boy at the end of October. Machiko Shimomura (Japan, '98) has been teaching Japanese this past semester at the University of Delaware.
Mehmet Sukru Gulay (Turkey, '95) finished his military service last summer and is working on his Ph.D. in veterinary medicine at Florida State University. Midori Yokoyama (Japan, '98) married Jason Keith Radnor on November 5 in Kauai, Hawaii. She met her American husband in Tokyo five years ago. Miguel Armenta (Colombia, '99) began a Ph.D. program in petroleum engineering at Louisiana State University this fall. Miguel's wife and children are living with him in Baton Rouge, LA. Naomi Takehara (Japan, '00) has returned to her home in Japan after traveling through Central and South America visiting ELI classmates. Patricia Oliveira (Brazil, '94) is working at Made in Brasil Design in Sao Paulo. She attended a graphic design workshop at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Raphaelle Autogue (France, '98) interned with German television in Strasbourg, France, last summer and is finishing her final year at the University of Grenoble's Technology Institute Roberto Gonzales (Mexico, '94) and wife Alexandra are living in Chelsea, MA. Roberto graduated from the University of Massachusetts in business. Rosa Macedo (Brazil, '94) is doing a specialization in endodontics. Sammy Lin (Taiwan, '00) is working on a master's degree in environmental engineering at UD. Yangsoon Kim (Korea, '00) works for the Korean Times Chicago bureau. Yasuo Kato (Japan, '95) has a new position with Goldman Sach's Tokyo branch as an internal auditor.
