DELAWARE ADMINISTRATOR STANDARDS,  &
INTERSTATE SCHOOL LEADERS LICENSURE CONSORTUIM (ISLLC) STANDARDS

DELAWARE STANDARD ISLLC STANDARD
Systemic Leadership
An educational leader possesses the knowledge and skills to develop vision and purpose among stakeholders, to achieve common goals, to frame problems, to utilize information, to incorporate teamwork, to analyze contexts and to exercise leadership processes on behalf of the vision and goals.

1. A school administrator is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students by facilitating the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by the school community.

Instructional Leadership
An educational leader possesses the knowledge and skills to facilitate the design of appropriate standards-based curriculum, to develop a positive learning environment, to initiate with faculty a variety of instructional programs, to assess outcomes, and to plan professional development activities with staff.

2. A school administrator is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students by advocating, nurturing, and sustaining a school culture and instructional program conducive to student learning and staff professional growth.

Community & Political Leadership
An educational leader possesses the knowledge and skills to act in accordance with legal provisions and statutory requirements, to apply regulatory standards, to relate public policy initiatives to student welfare, to understand schools as political systems, to involve and inform parents and community groups, and to develop effective public relations and media relations programs.

3. A school administrator is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students by ensuring management of the organization, operations, and resources for a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment.

Organizational Leadership
An educational leader possesses the knowledge and skills to establish and improve organizational structure and processes, to design and implement operational plans, to secure and manage resources, and to facilitate shared decision-making.

4. A school administrator is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students by collaborating with families and community members, responding to diverse community interests and needs, and mobilizing community resources.

Interpersonal & Ethical Leadership
An educational leader possesses the knowledge and skills to understand the significance of interpersonal relationships in schools, to initiate and nurture these connections to assist colleagues in attaining personal and professional goals, to relate these attainments to organizational purpose, to facilitate teamwork and collegiality, and to act ethically and with integrity.

5. A school administrator is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students by acting with integrity, fairness, and in an ethical manner.

 

6. A school administrator is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students by understanding, responding to, and influencing the larger political, social, economic, legal, and cultural context.
