Industrialist, philanthropist and champion of public education
in Delaware, P.S. du Pont (1870-1954) was one of the University's
most generous and influential benefactors.
In
the role of benefactor, P.S. du Pont, a practical and modest
man, wished to use his great wealth not simply to make gifts
of money, but as the means of initiating change and growth
while inspiring others to support and contribute to those
endeavors. He ensured, by his focused and thoughtful attention,
that his contributions were both useful and wisely managed.
