CHEM102 Course
Requirements

Laboratory ·
Lab meets once a week. ·
First Lab meets week of September 15, 2003. ·
Report to lab promptly each week in order to hear lab instruction
presentation by TA. ·
Pre-Lab reports are due when you enter lab, unless instructed
otherwise. ·
Lab reports are due as you leave lab, unless instructed otherwise. ·
Labs and make-up labs can only be done during the week scheduled. ·
Missed labs CANNOT be made up and will be either EXCUSED or
UNEXCUSED. ·
No score will be recorded for an EXCUSED LAB (Excused by your TA). ·
A score of zero (0) will be recorded for an UNEXCUSED LAB (AND
Pre-Lab). ·
An EXCUSED LAB requires a note from parent or doctor to be given to
TA. ·
Lab is an inseparable part of chem101F03. Your lab grade is part of your chem101F03 grade. ·
IMPORTANT - Each Unexcused missed
lab will lower your lab score. ·
Make-up Labs - See Mrs. Miller, 107 BRL (831-1962) for a lab pass. ·
Lab Safety - Obtain certificate from UD website - www.udel.edu/webct Exams ·
Three (3) in-class exams will be given. See "Syllabus" for dates. ·
No make-up exams will be given. Final exam score will replace any
EXCUSED exam(s) missed for VALID reasons and excused by Professor Polenova. ·
Lowest exam score will be replaced by final exam score. An EXCUSED exam
score will be considered a "lowest exam score". ·
Exams Cover: textbook, course notes, lecture and workshop material. ·
Final Exam will be cumulative over all course material. Minimum requirements for obtaining a passing grade
in CHEM-102 are: ·
Successful completion of all twelve (12) laboratory experiments ·
Successful completion of the final examination ·
Obtaining a total of at least 400 points on the "Grading and
Policies”. ChemSkill Foundations – Electronic Homework: ·
Electronic homework is prepackaged with textbook as a small plastic
folder. ·
Plastic folder contains a CD, a preformatted floppy disk and
operating instructions. ·
You must supply an additional floppy disk as a backup disk. ·
Floppy disk will be handed and returned by TA in lab every week. ·
Problems are divided into units, each unit consisting of 10-20
problems, requiring ~1 hour. ·
Each unit can be worked and reworked but only highest score will be
recorded. ·
Computer will randomly change problems in each unit each time a unit
is reworked. ·
Assigned units: 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18. |
