disposal of chemically contaminated sharps

clarification on the university policy on disposal of chemically contaminated sharps.
1) Chemical contaminated sharps may **NOT** be placed in red containers, which are designated for biological hazardous waste.
2) Chemically contaminated sharps and syringes may be collected in any puncture-proof container (e.g. wide-mouth Nalgene bottle), which should be labeled with a Hazardous waste label. When full, the puncture-proof container should be disposed of in lab trash.
3) Alternatively, chemically contaminated sharps may be collected in green sharps containers provided by EHS, which will be stocked in Fisher stock room. The green containers can be directly brought down to the Brown Waste Shed.
