10th CHEM/BIOC Graduation Convocation, May 28, 2005

By any and all accounts, our 10th CHEM/BIOC Graduation Convocation rated a 10! All of the elements needed for success were in place: a spectacularly beautiful day, a superb speaker (Dr. Arthur J. Coury (BS62), Vice-President for Biomaterials Research, Genzyme Corp., Cambridge, MA), a bumper crop of graduates (47 BA/BS, 11 MA/MS, and 14 Ph.D.) and an enthusiastic crowd of over 400 well-wishers, most of whom enjoyed our traditional post-graduation reception in the foyer of Brown Laboratory.

Particularly poignant moments were provided by the recognition of Prof. Emeritus Robert Wood (FAC 57-02, CHAIR 69-71), who served as Dr. Coury’s undergraduate adviser 43 years ago, and the presentation, by Prof. Douglas Ridge, of his identical twin sons, Clark and Claron, for their trips across the Pearson Hall stage.
