BLUE HEN CHEMIST

Number 28 John L. Burmeister, Editor August, 2001

6TH CHEM/BIOC GRADUATION CONVOCATION, MAY 26, 2001 A rainy Commencement Day failed to dampen the spirits of our Class of 2001. Almost 400 relatives, faculty, and friends gathered in Pearson Hall at 11:30AM to congratulate the 58 BS/BA, 15 MS/MA and 10 Ph.D. recipients. The featured speaker for the occasion was one of our most distinguished alumni: Anthony A. Kossiakoff (PhD73), Otho-Sprague Professor and Chairman of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Chicago. The subsequent reception in the foyer of Brown Laboratory marked the completion of three decades of maintaining this graduation tradition.
