<P xml:lang="EN-US">     This unit is for eleventh grade English Language Learner students. It focuses on developing students’ analytical skills using the movie The Crucible. Students will learn how to ask higher order questions to analyze what they view, analyze the historical allegory of The Crucible, and events of modern-day witch-hunting. They will also compare the movie with the play. This unit promotes group work, guided interaction, and the use of graphic organizers as teaching strategies. The major activities in this unit use games, research, and comparisons to develop questioning skills, investigate information, and raise awareness of events that are like the Salem witch trails. This unit can be used in any classroom that uses audio-visual materials, but emphasis is on English Language Arts. </P>
