<Normal xml:lang="EN-US">This 10 day, 45 minute period, unit merges an introduction of storytelling with two pieces of artwork from the Impressionism Period. The unit is geared towards Elementary Visual Art students, but can easily be adopted by any grade level or Language Arts class. This unit will bridge a connection between stories and art, and establish the idea of creating for the purpose of an audience. Connecting storytelling and art will allow students to have a deeper understanding for key elements of both forms and help encourage students to tell stories, write, and create artwork. The lessons are designed to be chunked into small sections to allow for each target objective mentioned above to be studied and mastered. At the end of this unit, students will be able to identify key elements in both artwork and stories, able to illustrate a story and be able to create a story from an illustration. </Normal>
