This is a four week unit for kindergarten (though I believe it could be adapted to other primary grades as well). The focus of this unit is creative writing and the narrative elements of literature. Specifically, the unit will focus on character, setting, and plot. Through the lessons, students will be creating these three narrative elements and then combining them into a creative story of their own. Student stories can then be published through traditional means or through the use of apps for the I-pad. This unit will address Common Core State Standards in the areas of writing, reading literature, and speaking and listening.
