<Normal xml:lang="EN-US">The world around us is filled with images. From the moment we get up, until we lay our head back on our pillows we are bombarded with images, pictures, advertising, graphics, and technology. In our fast paced, technological world we see so many images everyday, but do we really look at them and understand them. Most people do not, which is why visual literacy is so important. It is increasingly important that we can understand the graphics and imagery we see everyday so we can better understand our world and the symbols, messages, and meaning being implied to us through imagery every day. Using MAC computers and Adobe CS6 suite my Graphic Design I students will explore the connections between images and the written word. Students will analyze and evaluate fiction and non fiction works and then write and illustrate their own stories while using technology to make their ideas come to life. Students will read, rewrite, and create visuals and movies inspired by fairytales, book &amp; movies, illustrations, and advertising. By analyzing and exploring pictures and words and their meanings, students will be able to critically analyze and understand imagery in any subject area including ELA, math, history, science, and art.  </Normal>
