<Normal xml:lang="EN-US"> This unit is intended to teach Structure of Life for fourth grade. It is a cross curriculum unit that works on research, closing reading, observations, and note taking to ultimately gain a better understanding of organisms. This unit is broken into activities of research, observations, and formative assessments during the unit and at its completion. This unit will discuss the five basic needs of survival and the classifications of living organisms. It will explore the organisms of crayfish, bess beetles, toads and plants of the wetlands areas. The research will be conducted in a number of ways with technology, printed articles, nonfiction reading pieces and educational videos. The unit will have the students apply their knowledge in a variation of methods. They will present information to their peers of the knowledge they have gained from the different pieces of research. The students will create habitats to best fit the organisms’ natural habitat and continue to care for the organisms. The students will work collaboratively in small groups, whole group and in partners. </Normal>
