The unit is designed for a Social Studies class but can be adapted to Science or ELA. Students will be introduced the different biomes of the world after learning the essential features of a map, the difference between relative and absolute location and the various landforms that make up the Earth’s surface. In addition students will read about the different climate zones and how climate change is affecting the Earth’s vegetation and animals. Connections to the impact of climate change will lead students to identify the unintended consequences on the animal populations of different biomes. In conclusion students will create a final product to show what they have learned about their biome and how climate change is impacting it.
