The main instructional objective of this unit is to extend the goals of the 5th grade Delaware ecosystems unit and deepen student understanding by integrating the national standards for theater, dance and visual arts. Research discussed shows that by integrating the visual arts, dance, theater and music, teachers can address the diverse needs of today’s individual students and learning styles as well as meet the expectations of the Common Core. Specific content is provided to assist anyone interested in adding more of the arts to their current curriculum.
