In my unit I will teach first grade language arts standards as well as drama. Students will learn and work with vocabulary words, identify the different story elements, compare and contrast the two texts, and write an opinion piece. My goal is to use drama, in the form of tableaux as a strategy enhance the above objectives. Students will be working together as a whole group, in small groups and in pairs to create and perform tableaux to further their understanding of the characters, settings and plots of each story. This unit will use drama and language arts to increase student interest and enhance student understanding of different texts and language arts skills.
