<Normal xml:lang="EN-US">In this third grade unit, students will review the foundations of fractions and use critical thinking exercises to delve further into more higher-order thinking applications of fractions. Students will begin by reviewing fractions with a numerator of 1, before they problem solve with more challenging problems. These problems will require them to use error analysis to determine whether or not pieces represent equal parts. In subsequent lessons, students will examine fractions of a group of objects, represent fractions on a number line, and compare the size of fractions using various models like pictures, fraction bars, and, again, the number line. These lessons would be suitable as an extension or intervention for fractions’ lessons already in place with your current curriculum.  </Normal>
