Making a Difference: Every Action Matters

This cross curricular unit was designed for 5th grade Enrichment students. Beginning with a novel study, this unit encourages students to make connections between the issues and events in the story to their daily lives and habits. Activities include a Socratic Seminar about a local current environmental issue and a simulation/role playing activity that provides an opportunity to apply new knowledge in an authentic manner. Finally, students will choose an environmental topic on which they will become expert through individual research. Technology will be used throughout this culminating project, producing a multimedia presentation that will be shared with various audiences.
