Spacecubes record to date.

Launched September 1997 as a web only product.

USP Used VRML (3d modelling language) on the Internet as its sole demo.
Also, web only product meant the price was cheaper than at retail. (in
theory)

Marketing.
Small PR budget only, approached minor and major media requesting names
in return for samples. Mixed results, major press in Austria and Brazil,
minor in US and rest of Europe. leading to about 1000 individual sales in
first 6 months.

Settling at around 20 per week with zero promotion.

Search Engine regular submissions.
Below the line puzzle list activities:
Geometrek hook from November 1997. (VRML partnership program).
Spacecubes VRML won several major VRML awards including best use if VRML in
business/advertising for 1998.

Fixed Costs.
Retention of webspace.
P/T agent.

Early results:
Slow sales, product too cheap to justify mass marketing (cost of web
visitor is at least $1, sell through of 1 in 10 would be $10 per sale.)

Strategy rethink. March/April 1998

Focus on promotional gift/trade channels.
Developed of secondary web space outlining possibilities and bulk prices.

Results

Bulk deals
Via Internet of 5000 to date US, Argentina, Switzerland, Denmark. (no
advertising just online submissions)
Offline in UK of 3000 units (cost of marketing around $1000 + ongoing)

Future strategy.

Geometrek Hook has developed into more than a hook. Currently seeking vc to
fund development of 3D java/VRML multiuser solutions, VRML applications
and major 3D portal. Spin off to Spacecubes would be significant.

Expand the Promotional gift market to follow UK offline model in both Europe
(April 99) and US (October 99).

Regards web spending, we are also considering a direct e-mail release to
promotional gift buyers voa postmaster direct.
