AAUP Executive Council Minutes
February 7, 2007

PRESENT: Linda Bucher (presiding), Leon Campbell, Gerald Turkel, Danilo Yanich, Sheldon Pollack, David Smith, and Kevin Kerrane (secretary). Patricia Barber, excused

Minutes from the December 6, 2006 meeting were approved with two corrections: the addition of a news note about David Bellamy’s reappointment to the Parking Committee, and the deletion of 1 ½ sentences regarding the National AAUP.

The meeting began in Executive Session with reports from the Grievance Officer, D. Smith, and the Contract Maintenance Office, L. Campbell.

Regular Meeting:

Office Updates/Issues: Laptop computer to be purchased to replace existing laptop (that is broken).

Treasurer’s Report: Sheldon Pollack

Annual report: draft circulated to council members; once finalized will be distributed to membership.

    • Audit: in progress


The AAUP VOICE: Gerry Turkel: Salary Equity issues to be focus of next issue

  • Old Business:
    Chapter history project: S. Finner to complete project; J. VanName will be asked to assist

    • Joint meeting with Executive Council of the Senate: L. Bucher to set up date

    • Joan DelFatorre’s book research: Joan has worked with Rita over winter session to obtain access to records needed for her work.

5. New Business:

a. AAUP Student Award: Bob Taggart, chairperson: 1 new member needed; new chair needed for 2008; L. Bucher to solicit new member for this year’s committee. K. Kerrane suggested that the chapter might aim for greater publicity for these prestigious prizes.

b. AAUP Farewell Reception for President Roselle: Tuesday, March 20 th, 4-5, Rodney Room, Perkins Center. L. Bucher to circulate invitation to AAUP members.
