Advertising Policy for Classified and Display Ads

 The Review reserves the right to refuse ads that are of an improper or inappropriate time, place, or manner.   The ideas and opinions are not necessarily those of The Review organization, its staff, or the University of Delaware. Any questions, comments, or input may be directed to the advertising department at The Review.

       While we accept no responsibility for the consequences of responding to our advertisements, we make every effort to refuse any ads which pose an obvious risk to our readers.  Therefore, we do not print any ads which refer to the following:

  • "Get Rich Quick" schemes (for example "Earn Money in Spare Time").

  • 900 numbers.

  • Ads requiring cash in advance;

  • Ads for individuals seeking "personal relationships."

  • Ads of a sexually solicitous or explicit nature.

  • Ads seeking surrogate mothers (even if placed by a legal, respectable agency)*

* Furthermore, Delaware Law prohibits advertising for adoption by anyone other than "the Department or a licensed agency". (68 Del Laws, c.259, par.1.).

       Certain ads will not be immediately accepted or placed.  The following types of ads require consultation before a decision can be reached:

  • Ads which run the risk of offending a large portion of the university  community.

  •  ads which may conflict with university policy, especially those regarding academic dishonesty.

  • Spring Break ads:  We require that ads be paid 2 weeks prior to the run date unless paid by cash or certified check .  Spring Break ads that are received by mail with a company check will be held for 2 weeks, then will run in the next issue after that waiting period.  No exceptions.
