- Overseeing darkroom etiquette and safety

Grading
Your grade will be based on attendance, knowledge of the lab, and work performance. The objectives of this grading scale are to ensure th
at things will run as smoothly as possible for not only the lab, but also for you.
- One unexcused absence will be allowed during the time the class meets as a group. If you cannot be there for a lab shift, you are res
ponsible for finding a replacement. If you cannot find a replacement, and do not show up, your grade will be lowered by ONE FULL LETTER G
RADE FOR EACH ABSENCE. Being late for class/shift, or leaving early may also count as an unexcused absence.
- Each student will be required to take a pass/fail quiz based on knowledge of the lab before beginning lab shifts. After we have revie
wed all procedures in the lab, each student will be asked privately to perform one task revolved around the operation of the lab. For exa
mple, changing an enlarger light bulb, or changing a line of chemistry. If you do not pass the quiz, your grade will be lowered by half a
letter grade (i.e. A to A-, A- to B+).
- Through peer evaluations, student/instructor complaints, and the suggestion box, your lab monitor performance will be graded as well.
Receiving MORE THAN ONE complaint from any source may result in the lowering of your grade by half a letter grade. Only complaints based
on your lab responsibilities can affect your grade (i.e. changing the chemistry). Complaints based on the lab in general, or personal co
mplaints will not be considered. If complaints occur, I will speak to you before determining a grade change.
Lab Shift Replacements
If the situation arises that you will not be able to cover your shift, you can ask someone else from the class to cover it for you.
You will be provided a list with the class e-mail and telephone numbers for contact.
When you find someone to cover your shift, you as well as that person must both e-mail me before the shift to confirm.
If you both do not, and no one shows up for the shift, you are held responsible.
In Case of Emergency
The red phone at the end of the hall is for emergency use only.
In the event of an injury, fire, or any other situation that requires immediate attention,
pick up the phone and it will connect directly to the Campus Police.
Telephone calls cannot be made from this phone. We also have an eyewash, first aid kit, and fire extinguishers.
