12:01 a.m., Sept. 13, 2007--Updated telephone feature access codes are in effect beginning today, Thursday, Sept. 13. All phone line feature access codes will require users to dial a preceding * before the access code. The change will bring University feature codes in alignment with feature codes used throughout the telephone industry.
The commonly used access codes, which will require the new * dialing pattern, are listed below.
Administrative lines only:
- *72--Call Forwarding, user may forward a University number to another number;
- *73--Deactivates Call Forwarding; and
- *1--Pick-up Group users, those who are set up in a call-answering group, will need to dial 1 after the *.
Administrative and student lines:
- *77--Call Trace, to be used only when a user is receiving threatening or harassing phone calls. No caller information is given directly to the user when this code is used. Only Public Safety has jurisdiction to make phone company inquiries as to the origin of the call. There is a $1 activation fee each time Call Trace is used; and
- *57--Call Block, users who wish to block their phone line's Caller ID to the person being called must dial this code each time when placing a call.
