10:04 a.m., Oct. 22, 2007--Newark Police are investigating an attempted robbery at the Kmart store in the College Square shopping center shortly after 10 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 22.
Police said two suspects entered the store earlier in the evening and hid until after closing hours. They gained entry to an office and laid in wait for the store manager to make the night deposit, grabbing her arm and displaying a silver handgun.
Another employee heard her scream for help and came to her aid, and the suspects fled out the rear entrance. Both suspects are about 18-25 years old, with the first about 5 feet, 7 inches to 6 feet tall and of medium build, wearing dark clothing and a mask, and the second 5 feet, 11 inches to 6 feet, 2 inches tall and of thin build, also wearing dark clothing and a mask.
