Relay for Life to seek donations at Nov. 3 game

2:48 p.m., Oct. 31, 2007--UD students have been long-time supporters of the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, an international event to raise money for cancer research and education and to honor those lost to the disease and cancer survivors.

This year, to get a head start on its funding to fight cancer, which has affected countless lives, UD Relay for Life student volunteers will be circulating outside Delaware Stadium in the parking lots before the Nov. 3 football game against James Madison, asking for donations. The drive has been authorized by the UD administration, and volunteers will be clearly identified.

UD began its relay in 2001, and last year 135 teams raised nearly $153,000. This year, the relay will be held May 3-4, 2008, and the goal is to raise $175,000.

All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society to aid in the fight against cancer. For more information, visit [http://events.cancer.org/rflud ].
