The week's programs feature free lectures, self-assessment clinics, informational fairs and alcohol-free parties with activities geared for students living both on and off campus.
The following events are planned:
MOSAIC Alcohol Assessment Day will take place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday, Oct. 15 at the Wellspring Office located at 231 South College Avenue. Those who get screened will receive a free gift card.
Alcohol Physiology with Nancy Nutt Chase, Wellspring Program director, will take place from 12:30-1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 16, in the Ewing Room of the Perkins Student Center.
Alcohol and Sexuality with Emily Nagoski, a sex educator who worked for two years as an educator and docent at the Kinsey Institute, will take place from 8-9:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 17, in the Alumni Lounge of the Perkins Student Center.
College Drinking with Nicole Solomon-Johnson, coordinator at UD's Center for Counseling and Student Development, will take place from 9:30-10:45 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 18, in the Ewing Room of the Perkins Student Center.
Love Your Body Day, a daylong, multiple venue event on Thursday, Oct. 18, will feature presentations, information kiosks and self-care workshops that address body image and personal wellness issues, as well as issues related to drug and alcohol abuse and eating disorders. The following events are scheduled for Love Your Body Day:
xli An Information Fair will take place from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., at Trabant Kiosk B and the Perkins Student Center concourse.
xli Exploring the Body Politic: Cross-Cultural Implications of Standards for Human Beauty will take place noon to 1 p.m. in Perkins Student Center Gallery.
xli Body Image Concerns: How to Help a Friend with Disordered Eating panel discussion will take place 5-6 p.m., in Perkins Student Center Alumni Lounge.
xli Mini Self-Care Fair will take place in Bacchus Theatre, Perkins Student Center. Events include, 7-10 p.m., The Chill Out Zone, where students can plant seeds, make a relaxation stone or decorate a cookie to de-stress; 7-10 p.m., healthy food demo with nutrition club; 7 p.m., Jazzercise class; 7:30 p.m., a breast health lecturette; 8 p.m., Capoeira, part martial arts part dance; 8:30 p.m., a testicular health lecturette; 9 p.m., reflexology and, 9:30 p.m., a self massage.
Get Wacky Not Wasted, from 9 p.m.-12 a.m., Friday, Oct. 19, at the Perkins Student Center, will wrap up National Collegiate Awareness Week with fun, food, mocktails, games, music and more. The party is sponsored by the V8 Club.
