Maryland pitcher throws no-hitter against Hens
Maryland’s Scott Swinson threw a no-hitter against the Blue Hens. It is believed to be the first no-hitter thrown against the Hens in the history of the program.
8:20 a.m., May 14, 2008--University of Maryland pitcher Scott Swinson fired a no-hitter and struck out 10 batters in a 4-0 victory over the University of Delaware on Tuesday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium.

Swinson's gem is believed to be the first no-hitter thrown against the Fightin' Blue Hens in the history of the program, which dates back to 1882.

The Blue Hens managed just three base runners as Chris Nehl and Ryan Cuneo drew walks and Pat Dameron was hit by a pitch. Cuneo's 24-game hitting streak came to and end.

UD's Brend Gaphardt was the last pitcher to throw a no-hitter at Bob Hannah Stadium, defeating Hofstra University 11-0 on March 26, 2005.

With the loss, the Blue Hens dropped to 21-31 on the season. They will close out play with a three-game Colonial Athletic Association series at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond on Thursday and Friday. The teams will meet in a single game at 7 p.m. on Thursday and in a doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday.
