McDonald, Dodson star in indoor track meet

8:32 a.m., March 3, 2008--Junior Kelli McDonald won the women's pole vault competition and Brad Dodson finished second and set a school record in the 3,000-meter run as the University of Delaware indoor track and field teams competed at the New York University Fasttrack Invitational held Friday at the New York City Armory.

McDonald won the pole with a leap of 12 feet, 2 inches and Dodson ran the 3,000 meters in 8:20.95, breaking the old mark of 8:21.54 set by Mike DiGennaro in 2000.

Also for the UD women's team, the 4x800-meter relay team of Christina Antonopoulos, Karen Mandrachia, Cristine Marquez and Sarah Taylor finished second with a time of 9:40.72, Laura Chirico finished third in the pole vault (11-9.75), Marquez finished third in the 400 meters (56.66), and the 4x400-meter relay team of Kristi Cox, Alex Francis, Liz Harvin and Kayla Hennessy finished fifth in a time of 3:56.44. Hennessy also was eighth in both the 60-meter hurdles (9.08) and the 200 meters (25.5).

Also for the UD men's team, Jake Cohen was second in the pole vault (14-3.25), Greg Stirparo was ninth in the weight throw (46-2.52), Mike Zeberkiewicz was 10th in the mile (4:21.18), and the 4x800-meter relay team of Alex Malikian, Brad Richie, Mike Tait, and Steve Vincent was 10th in a time of 4:21.18.
