Maryland blanks Hens in men’s tennis action

8:17 a.m., March 10, 2008--The University of Maryland defeated the University of Delaware 7-0 in a men's tennis match played Saturday at the Tennis Center at College Park, Md.

UD junior Nolan Greenberg won the only set of the day in a 1-6, 6-0, 6-3 loss to David Kwon at second singles. Sophomore Austin Longacre dropped a match to nationally-ranked Amit Inbar 6-2, 6-2 in first singles.

Sam Barrer fell 6-0, 6-1 to Nickolai Nielsen at No. 3 singles, Chris Hincker fell 6-4, 6-4 to Alex Aksanov at No. 4, Camilo Perez fell at No. 5 and Andrew Blumberg fell at No. 6.

Maryland rolled through the doubles matches.

A match for both the men's and women's teams scheduled Sunday against Lafayette College was cancelled due to inclement weather. The women's team will travel to Lehigh University for a match at 4 p.m., Thursday, March 13, then will return home to face Mount St. Mary's at noon, Saturday, March 15. The UD men also will compete against Mount St. Mary's on Saturday.
