UD men’s lacrosse team defeats Lehigh 9-2

9:22 a.m., March 26, 2008--The University of Delaware men's lacrosse team put the clamps on Lehigh University in a 9-2 victory in a game played Tuesday night in Bethlehem, Pa.

Senior attack Cam Howard had four goals and three assists for the Fightin' Blue Hens, and senior goalkeeper Tom Scherr matched a career high 19 saves as he faced 42 shots.

Also for the Blue Hens, sophomore attack Curtis Dickson had three goals and senior attack Vincent Giordano had one goal and four assists. Dickson now has 30 goals on the season and has scored in 18 straight games.

Sophomore midfielder Martin Cahill also scored and freshman midfielder Anthony Ruiz won eight of 12 face-offs.

With the victory, the Blue Hens, who entered the game ranked No. 14 in the nation, are now 7-2. They will return to action with a game against Brown University at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 29, at Rullo Stadium.

The Blue Hens will then face the heart of their Colonial Athletic Association, with games at Towson University on April 5, at home against Drexel University on April 9, at Hofstra University on April 12, at home against Robert Morris University on April 19 and at Sacred Heart University on April 26.

The CAA playoffs will begin April 30 with the championship May 3. Games will be played on the home field of the higher seeds. UD is 1-0 in conference play with an 8-4 victory over Villanova University.
