Delaware Coach Keeler receives Vaught Award

2:49 p.m., March 5, 2008--University of Delaware Head Coach K.C. Keeler received the Johnny Vaught Head Coach Award at the 84th All-America Football Foundation Awards Dinner of Champions held Monday in Princeton, N.J.

The annual award honors head football coaches across the nation for outstanding performances during the season. Keeler will be honored again this weekend when he receives the Maxwell Football Club Tri-State Coach of the Year Award Friday night in Atlantic City, N.J.

Keeler, a 1981 Delaware graduate, completed his sixth season at the helm of the Fightin' Blue Hens. He led the 2007 team to an 11-4 record and a berth in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision national championship game. The Blue Hens also earned the Lambert Cup Trophy and Eastern College Athletic Conference Team of the Year Award.

Keeler holds a career record of 140-47-1 over 15 seasons, including a mark of 52-26 with the Blue Hens and a mark of 88-21-1 at NCAA Division III Rowan University. He has led Delaware to three NCAA tournament appearances, winning the national title in 2003, and two conference championships. In his 15 seasons as a head coach, he has led his teams to the national championship game seven times and to the postseason 10 times.
