3:34 p.m., March 17, 2008--Kirk Franklin, a major contemporary gospel artist, will make a presentation on personal accountability at 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, in the ballroom of Clayton Hall. The talk is hosted by UD's Cultural Programming Advisory Board.
Franklin has launched the youth ministry Nu Nation Ministries to help youth connect with their faith and share their experiences in innovative ways. The urban-style ministry launches nationwide events that present dance, rap, acting, singing, DJs and the spoken word to engage the talents of modern youth.
Franklin makes a modern statement with his music, combining gospel, rhythm and blues, modern rock, hip-hop, pop and jazz into a unique sound that transcends boundaries of gender, race, denomination and social background.
His first album, Kirk Franklin and the Family, spent 100 weeks at the top of Billboard magazine's gospel charts and was the first gospel album to sell more than 1 million copies. Franklin has won three Grammy Awards, 33 Stellar Awards and nine Dove Awards.
