June 9, 2008--Patricia S. "Trish" Whittington, 50, of Newark, Del., died from complications after a long illness on June 4 at the Johns Hopkins hospital in Baltimore.
Ms. Whittington was born in Wilmington, Del., on Feb. 20, 1958, and lived in Newark for the past 30 years. A 1981 graduate of the University of Delaware, she worked for UD for the past 25 years. Her most recent job title was central campus manager, Facilities Custodial and Pest Control Services.
A member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Elkton, Md., Ms. Whittington loved sailing and spent much of her time with friends and family as a member of the Northeast River Yacht Club in Northeast, Md.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelly, and son, Bryan; her mother, Zelma, of Lewes, Del.; brothers Michael, of Lewes, and Stephen, of Wilmington; and her best friend, David Whittington of Newark.
Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing at the Beeson Funeral Home of Newark, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark (Fox Run), from 6-9 p.m., Tuesday, June 10.
A mass of Christian burial in celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 11, at the Immaculate Conception Church on Bow Street in Elkton. Internment will follow at the Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, Del.
