Nishimura featured pianist in chamber music concert

2:40 p.m., June 13, 2008--Julie Nishimura, faculty accompanist for UD's Department of Music, will be a featured pianist in a concert, “Mesmerizing Melodies,” part of the Delaware Chamber Music Festival, directed by Barbara Govatos, first violinist of the Philadelphia Orchestra.

“Mesmerizing Melodies” will be performed at 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 20, at the Wilmington Music School, 4101 Washington St., Wilmington, Del.

An acclaimed musician who made her debut at the age of 16 with the San Francisco Symphony, Nishimura, who also is an instructor of chamber music courses at UD, is a graduate of the New England Conservatory and has performed with several groups in Philadelphia and Wilmington.

Other Delaware Chamber Music concerts include “What's in a Name?” at 3 p.m., Sunday, June 22; “Tango Power Two,” at 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 27; and “Art of the Italian Baroque, at 3 p.m., Sunday, June 29, all at the Wilmington Music School.
