UD’s giant Jon Stewart floor poster cited on ’The Daily Show’
3:34 p.m., Jan. 10, 2008--Comedian Jon Stewart, host of Comedy Central's The Daily Show, has given Delaware tourism a big shot in the arm.

At the top of his fake news broadcast on Wednesday evening, Jan. 9, Stewart gave his viewers a travel tip. "If you're ever in Delaware, if you've never seen the giant Jon Stewart floor poster, it is...."

Apparently at a loss for words to describe the poster, Stewart went on to say, "It kind of warms my heart to know that somewhere thousands of Delaware Blue Hens are walking on my face."

The 7-foot-by-14-foot poster was affixed to the concourse floor in the Trabant University Center in November to promote Stewart's performance at the Bob Carpenter Center on Dec. 1. It remained on the floor in Trabant until mid-December.

Don Shenkle, art director in publications, created the floor poster to help promote Stewart's appearance, which was sponsored by SCPAB, UD's Student Centers Programming Advisory Board. Shenkle said the idea for the floor poster, which he believes was a first on campus, came from junior Allie Williams, SCPAB's vice president for advertising, and Alex Keen, a program coordinator with UD's Student Centers.

The Jan. 9 episode of The Daily Show is slated to be repeated tonight at 8 p.m. on Comedy Central. The video of that episode, titled "Giant Floor Poster," also is available for viewing online at [www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=147330&title=giant-floor-poster]. As of 3:30 p.m., nearly 47,000 persons had viewed it online.
