9:09 a.m., Feb. 18, 2008--The University of Delaware women's basketball team defeated Hofstra University 54-53 in a Colonial Athletic Association game played Sunday afternoon at the Bob Carpenter Center.

UD freshman guard Tesia Harris had 21 points and hit the game-winning three-point basket with just six second left in the game.

"This was a great win for our ballclub and a big shot by Tesia Harris," UD Head Coach Tina Martin said. "I thought we executed offensively better than we have at any time over the last two weeks. Our freshmen got major minutes down and stretch and gave us as glimpse of the future. It looks promising."

Also for the Fightin' Blue Hens, freshman forward Ariene Jenkins had 14 points and nine rebounds senior guard Kyle DeHaven had nine points.

With the victory, UD improved to 7-18 overall and 6-7 in the CAA.

The Blue Hens will remain at home for a conference game against Towson University at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 21. They will travel to James Madison University for a game at noon, Sunday, Feb. 24, then will return home to the Bob Carpenter Center to face Georgia State University at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 28.
